Counseling and Treatment Through an LGBTQ+ Lens
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning (LGBTQ+) identified individuals are often apprehensive about engaging in health care, including mental health care, due to known rates of discrimination within those systems.
In my practice, I prioritize LGBTQ+ affirming care, ensuring that every individual feels respected and supported. I aim to create an environment where diversity is celebrated and where everyone is welcomed without reservation.
Inclusive Approach
My commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusivity isn’t just a promise; it’s a core aspect of my practice. I ensure that individuals from all walks of life find a safe space to discuss their concerns without fear of judgment or discrimination.
I have worked with people finding their sexual and gender identities and it can be challenging to understand and explore these aspects of ourselves. The process of coming out starts with the self, when an individual recognizes themselves to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, or have some sexual orientation or gender identity other than straight and cisgender. For some people, this awareness may occur early in life, but some may not realize it until later.
Compassionate Support
In my care, individuals can expect empathy and understanding, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity. It’s essential that everyone feels heard and validated in their experiences.
There is no perfect time or way to come out. Some people may decide to disclose their identity to only a few trusted loved ones while others may decide to be more transparent about it to a wider audience. We all have the right to make our own decisions about whether or not to come out and when and how to do it.
We will work together to understand the challenges and find what works best for you.
Your Well-Being Matters
No matter your identity, you deserve care that’s affirming and supportive. In my practice, every individual’s well-being is the top priority, fostering a nurturing environment for growth and healing.
I am trained as a LGBTQ affirming provider and approach all of my treatment through a LGBTQ inclusive lens. Simply, all our welcome and will be supported in my practice.
